Happy Hearts Day pt.2

Happy Hearts Day everybody. This is my second post with regards to this wonderful event. As you may have heard by now, im moving blogsites. I mentioned on my previous that this post would be my last post before i move and go on hiatus in blogger. Apparently, the next one after this post would be my last one. So for those followers of the site, please wait for a bigger update in store (i'll probably announce it on Monday) The big change is coming..... Just hold on a little longer

To celebrate this once a year event (btw, me and my pancake already celebrated it a day earlier to avoid the lovers rush on malls and restaurants) i will be posting a mixtape. Now, i know thi is a dangerous move for my blogsite but what the heck, this will be available for a limited time. Be warned though that this mixtape doesn't include any pop-boyband-novelty songs but the ol' fashioned mikepopo way.... rock! hehehe!

The mixtape will include from the likes of Yellowcard to Spongecola, Ang Bandang Shirley to Jimmy Eat World.... Heck John Mayer is included inside.

First of all, i would like to greet each and everyone a happy valentines day. May you guys and girls celebrate valentines with your loved ones whether with a partner, family, friends, previous love ones and so on. Yes, im very regretful to say that this will be my 2nd to the last post for points of interests here in blogger (if it's not only because of the music issue i posted previously, then none of these would have happen.)

Unless the issue is cleared, i might (and i say) might come back to blogger. But don't you worry guys, this blog will not be closed, the new updates can be found on my other blogsite where placing posts with regards to music won't have any problems (for now)

Anyhow, the big change is almost near. I just need to fix some more things. If you want a preview of what to expect, click here

Yes i know, im not a pirate nor my blog is an instrument of music piracy. But as some of you readers may not have heard or seen. A few weeks ago, my blogsite was flagged for what reason? i don't know. Turns out that the year-end mixtapes that i made available for download was considered a pirated music stuff. After i deleted the links to the said mixtapes, the flagged status has been removed.

And so the big change.

Don't worry, i'll keep you guys updated as to the status and new home of Points Of Interests. Keep your bookmarks updated and stay tuned....

It's been almost 2 weeks since my last post. Sorry for the delay. Anyway, Im still preparing up for the video blog im doing for points of interests.

What is it you may ask?

Well, it has something to do with computers and counting....

What's Up?

- Im still looking for ways on how to turn this blogsite into pointsofinterests.com. I need a cheap webhosting company for me to be able to do it.

- I got the Eraserheads Reunion DVD and i must say that it's worth every penny. I especially liked how they performed "Lightyears". You can really feel the emotions of Ely as he delivered that song. As much as i wanted to upload the whole concert on youtube, i know that i would be violating the agreement. And besides, i don't want to pirate my favorite band in the land, the band that inspired me to play musical instruments. I am proud to be a Eraserheads fanboy! hehehe! If you got 395 pesos, better get the DVD.

- About last week, i went out with a couple of former officemates from my former company. Catching up old times....

- Recently, i have been doing my "Demo Reel" for video editor. And it made me think, when will i finish the game im making right now (this one is for the game developer reel thingy) Maybe someday.... but im sure im gonna finish that game no matter how long it takes.

- Been playing Tekken 6 and the upgrade for it "Tekken 6: Bloodline Rebellion" and after importing my character in the game to the new upgrade (i'm using Bob btw) and so far, im liking the experience and feel of the upgrade (well, except for those cheap shot bastards that does the same combos over... and over... and over.. again.) As far as i can remember, i ranted about this matter right at this post.

- Please visit the newest blogsite in town called "Gamepulsive" It features game reviews, news, previews and other stuff. What makes this site differ from others is because of it's contents and the people behind it.

-Also, for dukes out there, drop by "The Grand Duke" blogsite.

- Im still on the transition phase. But that doesn't mean that i'll be leaving the world of game development. I'd still continue.

- Thanks squared and jar for the info about placing embedded playlists on blogsite. For thos of you who are listening to my playlist, im sorry to say that i'm removing it for a while.

El-Doble Celebracion (2 celebrations) Part 2.....

Hello and welcome back. This is the second part of my post for my 2nd year here at Points of Interests. Last post (before the commercial break) was a video blog. Did you guys liked it? Well, that would be one of the major changes here at Points Of Interests. I'll be doing video blog entries every now and then. But before the site-related changing news, let's go first to the segment i will call:

What's up?
- 3 days ago, a double celebration was made. First up would be 1+2=12 = 1. A personal event but nevertheless, a very memorable one. MNMKBP999! Oh, and it's the second year of Points Of Interests. Went on to do my video blog (sorry for i was stuttering) and then later on, went to SM Megamall to celebrate the "Personal" celebration.

- I was browsing the net the other day and yeah, i found the neat article in Kotaku. Worth reading especially if you are in the Game Development scene.

- Reached Level 65 at Call of Duty: World at War (Im using a legit copy of the game) If you happen to see me (using mikepopo) do sit beside me and watch the fireworks display courtesy of yours truly. heheh!

- Downloaded the FEAR 2 demo and yeah, Alma has already grown up. And so is the terror. Hehehe! Can't wait to play the full version.

- Currently hunting for the Eraserheads: Reunion Concert DVD (i heard that it will be out by the end of month) Im gonna get it.

- Also hunting for Duter's album. If you have no idea who they are, this is an all-girl band composed of Katwo Puertollano (Narda) on vocals, Kris Gorra (Fatal Posporos and Cambio) on guitars, Myrene Academia (Sandwich) on bass, and Ristalle Bautista on drums.

- Went to a company exam from a certain company (i won't be mentioning the name of the company) and i have one hint. This would be a career change for me (or should i say, back to the roots)

- Last Sunday i was in Fairview. Nice day by the way. hehehe!

And so i would like to ask for your suggestions. Im planning to have a weekly video blog entry. One thing is for sure, i would be doing video blogs about computers and music. But im thinking for another category to video blog on. This is where i need your help. Can you give me any ideas as to what to blog about? i have a couple.

- Weekly top 10
- Food exploring
- Recommends (movies, music, etc.)
- Rants
- ?

Any ideas? pleas do drop by a message and i'll make sure to answer all of them

Turning 2...

Yes, Points of Interests will be turning 2 on the 26th of January. (co-incidentally, i will also be celebrating another occasion) I have looked back at my previous posts and i would have to say that this blog turned out to have some memorable posts here, there and everywhere. Rest assured that Points Of Interests will continue through the years. And so begins my new posts:

- Recently, i have said goodbye to my old PC (named Sempie) and said hello to my new rig (named Dewey) Sempie will find a new home in Fairview and it will be our legitimate electronic child (hehehe!) So don't worry sempie, Mommy Pancake will take care of you

- New rig = New possibilities. Yes finally, the game i have been doing will finally come to life. That's the main reason why i upgraded my rig. Also, i can finally finish my portfolio.

- Went to the DFA (Department of Foreign Affairs) to renew my passport. As for why, i dunno? maybe someday me and my pancake will leave the country (and i will build her empire there) hehe. Nah, it's for future use. Who knows?

- Been to interviews and exams here and there. All i can say is that yes, this is a new year, new beginning.

- The Eraserheads rumor i posted last time became true. Now that's journalism. hehehe!

- This blogsite will transform as it turns 2. Watch out for it.

- If you are an avid follower of the anime series that is Naruto: Shippuuden, yep, you may have heard that Dattebayo, a fansubbing group who translates the anime we love through the years finally stopped the subbing distribution of Naruto. That's because Vizmedia acquired the rights for the said anime. Too bad.... but don't worry, if you know your resources, you can get the latest episodes on you-know-where. heheh! Im guessing that Bleach will follow it's fate soon.

- Red mobile is fun and i love it.

- Congratulations to the team behind Jumble Madness DS. The game is already released worldwide. Kudos to the team and team alone. heheh! Also, to team Moorhuhn: Star karts.

- Call of Duty: World at war players out there, i will see you all soon.! The suicide bomber is back! hehehehe!

The final set has been nailed... Eraserheads part 2

To all you Eraserheads fans out there (Like me!) There have been rumors of another concert (This would be the second set of their now famous "08308" Reunion concert)

Well, our prayers have been answered.

Rumors abound that the concert will be entitled "The Final Set", and this would happen at March 7, 2009. Guess we don't have to wait that long for them to be onstage again and play the much-rumored second set that did not happened during the concert.

Rumors about that they are still deciding whether it would be held again at the fort or at the SM Mall of Asia grounds. This concert would be sponsored by Smart and MTV Philippines.

*Update* okay, i found the link for it. Now we just have to wait.

Also, in another Eraserheads news, their reunion concert DVD would hit store shelves by end of January.

Can't wait to get my hands on both tickets and the DVD.

If i would be given a chance to make their second set, this would be my list

2008 in review

Yes, This is the year-ender post of the author. 2008 has been a very meaningful year to me, a year of unforgettable events, a year of firsts, a year of unexpected events but nevertheless, 2008 has been very good to me and this blog.

In the past year, i have:
- been in a relationship which would last forever.
- been a game designer and QA director
- been in a band
- been part of the disbanding band
- been trying to build up a new band
- played at venues i have never imagined to play (Route 196, Mag:Net Katipunan and Saguijo)
- met new friends
- hated people (they reached my limits)
- been busy playing games on the pc
- constantly updated my blogs here, multiply, wordpress
- been thinking of closing my wordpress blogsite (since it has the same contents of this blog and my multiply account)
- bought cds and dvd's
- been to concerts, album launches and mall tours (as a fan)
- reached the 100th post here in points of interests (yeehaw!)
- given my hair a new look
- lost someone (goodbye tatay avelino)
- recorded some music using my pc (i have it here, im just shy to show it to the world. my pancake has her own copies of those songs. hehehe!)
- bought a new phone (k610i... ahh the new phone)
- been doing videocalls (thank you red mobile)
- done things i have never done before
- been getting better and stronger
- been blessed with all of the blessings that i can get this year

And so before i say goodbye to 2008 and welcome in 2009, i have here my own personal top 10 songs for 2008. I may not have a mixtape of it but these songs have been playing for the whole year round in my pc, ipod and cds. This is somewhat the music that kept me grooving in the past year

10. Bloc Party - So here we are
- As covered by We kick ass for the lord, then later the Stereolalas. How i miss those days. But life has to move on and so is this countdown.

9. Taken By Cars - December 2, Chapter 7
- Bloc party written all over it. Nice.....

8. The Killers - Mr. Brightside
- I just like the riffs and drumming of this song. heheh that's all!

7. Joy Division/New Order - Ceremony
- A painful love song i have ever heard. Thanks aids for the recommendation.

6. Death Cab for Cutie - Blacking out the friction
- An old song, catchy riff, and true talent that DCfC can only deliver.

5. Bloc Party - This Modern Love
- refer to previous post for my reason.

4. In lab ako sayo - Original Composition
- This is my list any problems? hehe. Basically this is my attempt on doing a pop love song. And it worked. hehehe!

3. Ang Bandang Shirley - Patintero/Habulan/Larong Kalye
- Since the early days if the "Rizal day sessions" ep that they made, i instantly fell in love with this song. And im also honored that i once played with Owel, one of the vocalists of this band. Good job Shirley!

2. Dashboard Confessional - Stolen
- Yeah, she definitely stole my heart....

1. Adam Sandler - Grow old with you
- For personal reasons. heehehe!

So i would like to assess that 2008 has been an exciting year. And i believe that 2009 will be another year filled with interesting stories to tell, events, milestones, good and bad times, surprising and everything in between. If i would be turning back the time in the year 2008, it would have been as early as January, cause those events have been very meaningful and made me a stronger, responsible and at the same time, a very jolly person.

To those people whom i shared 2008, cheers! looking forward to 2009...

Top 10 Foreign Songs For 2008

Earlier on, i posted on my top 10 picks for OPM songs. Now I'm posting my top 10 foreign track picks for 2008. Same rules apply. Here we go

10. The Ting Tings - That's not my name
- Catchy tune, 2 man band yet they managed to get the attention of the listeners around the world (and so am i) Give it a spin and hear it... That's not my name... that's not my name.....

9. David Cook - Searchlights
- Way before he won and became famous because of American Idol, He released an independently album entitled "Analog Heart" I'm still getting used to the new album but nevertheless, i picked a track on his independent release. Hear his husky voice reaching those high notes. Wow!

8. Broken Social Scene - 7/4 (Shoreline)
- I recently stumbled upon this band and the moment i heard them, i said hey! nice arrangement of melodies and music. Also reminds me of Ang Bandang Shirley (Which fell on the number 2 spot on my top 10 opm list)

7. Jason Mraz - I'm Yours
- Laid back music from the geek in the pink. Best played while lying down on the beach and taking a rest, feeling the cozy breeze of the air, the refreshing sound of the waves while you spend it with your loved one. awww....

6. Kings of Leon - Use Somebody
- For those looking for some slow rock music with a touch of grunge, This track is what you are looking for. A powerful and very manly voice i may say. hehehe!

5. Flobots - Handlebars
- Even though this album has been out for quite sometime, this is what rap-rock should be (ahem *linkin park what happened" ahem!) hehehe!

4. Maximum the Hormone - Zetsubo Billy
- Since this is a foreign track list, im including at least 2 J-rock songs. First up would be this track taken from the 2nd closing of the hit anime series "Death Note" If you are looking for some heart-pounding, hard-rocking, head-banging japanese track, look no further. System of a down, Japanese rock style!

3. Asian Kung-Fu Generation - Korogaru iwa, Kimi ni Asaga Furu
- My 2nd Japanese rock band pick. I'm a fan of their music and creativity. Definitely one band noteworthy to hear. This track was taken from their third album "World World World"

2. Angels and Airwaves - Secret Crowds
- I was thinkng of placing "Sirens" or "Valkyrie Missile" but in the end, i opted to choose this track. Nice lyrics got me into it. If i have my own world, i'd build you an empire... Great lyrics that only Tom Delonge can deliver.

1. Bloc Party - This Modern Love
- This is an old song, yet it still managed to be my number one song for 2008. It could be other tracks from bloc party but this one has got to be their best fast-paced love song ever made. Listen to the harmonious guitar riffs, groovy drum hits and mellow vocals that only Kele can deliver. I miss the old Bloc Party

Top 10 OPM Songs For 2008

Yeah, sorry for not posting the part 2 of my 2-part Christmas post. Guess i have to move on to the new year posts (yup, this will be a 3 post thingy) We have all our own top 10 (top 10 events, sales, games, porn videos, posts, etc.)

And since 2008 has been a very musical year for me, i decided to go on with my top 10 OPM songs for the year 2008. Take note that it may or may not be released within the same year, but rather top 10 songs that i loved and you should also check out as i go on with everyday life during the year 2008.

And so without further adieu, here is my list:

10. Calsada - Iiyak na lang
- Yes, somehow i find a little likeness on Lito Camo as i heard this song. This is what he should be doing more.

9. Bamboo - Kailan
- A strong song, but not enough. Don't get me wrong, i liked the new album but somehow, it misses some elements found in the first and second album but hey, their music evolves every album release. A strong single release.

8. Sponge Cola - A Tear
- This track came out first in their independently released EP (i first got my hands on that EP way back when i was still in college and yeah, it blowed me away. On their new album, it has been redone and it got a fresh approach.

7. The Camerawalls - Changing Horses Midstream
- After Orange and Lemons disbanded (well, after Clem called it quits with the former ONL members) he decided to form up The Camerawalls. If you miss the old ONL sound, Try getting their album "Pocket Guide To The Otherworld" This track is a perfect example of old-school music.

6. Pupil - Disconnection notice
- Turn off the lights... turn of the lights.... It's Pupil.... no explanations needed

5. Sandwich - Selos
- After "Procrastinator" and "Betamax" comes their new single "Selos" Give it a spin, hey, it's Sandwich, nuff said.

4. Itchyworms - Gusto ko lamang sa buhay
- These guys never fails my expectations on their music direction. After the critically-acclaimed Noon time show, Here comes their new album "self titled" and honestly, this is the first song apart from their single that got me addicted to their new album.

3. Rico Blanco - Your Universe
- Perfect and amazing! those are the words that can describe this great track from his solo album of the same track name.

2. Ang Bandang Shirley - Sa Madaling Salita
- Choosing a track from the "Themesongs" album had me a hard time. I was thinking of placing all-time classics like "Tsuper Duper", "Bato" "Xmas Lights" and "Patintero" I have to agree, this track has got you saying "aww.." to it's lyrics. It's my turn to say "Good Job Shirley!"

1. Taken By Cars - Neon Brights
- Yeah unanimously this band's album has been spinning the most on my cd player, i Pod and PC. As Luna and i would always, it's "Taken by f*@K!%* Cars" They are one of the homegrown talents that should definitely on everyone's playlist for the year 2008 and beyond. I also had a hard time choosing whether to place either "December 2 Chapter 7" or "Uh-Oh" and even "Colourway" but this track will make you dance upon hearing it. Looking forward to the sophomore album.

So there you go, Those are my picks for 2008. As an added bonus, im including a mixtape entitled "2008: The near-death of pogi rock" hehehe. This will be available for a limited time and i can remove it anytime i want it (this is to prevent piracy)

This picture was taken at Corregidor. Team building before the Xenon/Phoenix days. This photo was taken after our mini-war games at the said island. A small yet dedicated and hardworking team.

Now, this photo was taken at the ground floor of the Alabang office. It was an unprepared photo op, thus we were caught by surprise. Again, this is from the AE days.

I was browsing at my pictures folder and came across these 2 pictures. I can't help but wonder, How i miss the guys from the former office.

Pardon me for this post, as this is pure AE related material. I can't help but get sentimental after seeing these pictures. The office, the officemates, the people, the camaraderie and most of all, the bonding that we have established.

Even though we are playing and talking games most of the time, We make sure that the job gets finished. We have mutual respect with each other, therefore we don't have any conflicts whatsoever. I guess this is the formula and the thing that kept us bonded together.

Ahh... the good ol' days.....

I have to agree on these parts of the article.

And yes it's already Christmas. So far, im still adjusting from the recent events. And so far, i have learned the following things:

* You have time for yourself
* No deadlines to finish
* No annoying people (yeah! freedom!)
* Afternoon television still sucks (pardon me, thanks for ETC. hehehe)
* Pancit canton is the way to go when you're hungry
* December and yet it is still hot like it's summer during the afternoons

Dear Santa,

As you may now, i may have been naughty but most of the times, nice this year. If you ever dropped by our house here in the Philippines, can you give me some things in my list? (not all but some of them or even at least one)

My own house - For future use. Where I, together with my future wife and kids would be spending our lives as we grow old.

Drum set - Any drum set will do. This would be a great workout machine for me while waiting for the new endeavors that will be coming ahead. Also best for future music

Upgraded PC - Core2duo setup would be fine for me (although if i have the funds, i would like a quad-core setup) but nevertheless, an upgrade to my sempron64 procie setup right now would be great.

Gibson Les Paul - Nuff said, very expensive guitar but hey, it is after all worth it's price. Even though i have me here a Les Paul guitar already, im looking forward to even hold a genuine one.

Sony PS3 - I can't buy one so can you give me one santa?

My own car - Not the expensive one, but a spacious one. A cherry QQ would be fine. hehehe!

Definition Mayhem members - Please bless me and xtian the band members we are looking for to fit in this new project of ours.

Asian Kung-Fu Generation - Please let them visit the Philippines. Heck, if i can jam with them on one of their performances, that would be great.

Finally end of the year... It has been a good and bad year for me. But even though these things are happening, I'd still believe that all of these happened for particular reasons. Sorry for those who were waiting for part 3, i won't be posting it here on my blog. The past posts were full of anger and guilt, it is slowly consuming me. I don't want turn like those bastards whom i am pertaining to my last posts (if you're one of them, i do hope that karma already visited you and little did you know, it is slowly working it's way into your lives. May god bless your poor souls...)

Anyhow, It's been technically 1 week ago since the so-called *Ahem* Incident happened (some of you may be saddened, i know some do mean it while others well... let's just say, they resemble a plastic trash can... They fuckin' stink like the pile of garbage inside the trashcans) and i have to agree, it has been difficult and at the same time, a new experience for me.

- I miss going to the office (although YM is legal in my new office... your old office sucks they don't allow access to the outside world but little did you know, some of those people whom i hate uses YM in the office... How fair can that be?)

- I miss the people in the office (again, you know who you are. Please don't include yourself if you are in my hatelist. Yeah, i also have my own hatelist and the best thing about my hatelist, im very open to say that i do hate them all and not use some stupid excuses. You know what i mean)

- I miss the lunch people (oh wait, there are only a few people whom i eat with when lunchtime comes. I miss you guys. Sorry, the comedy skits every lunchtime has to end.)

- I miss my table and pc (again, no personal attachments, after all, they are company property and sooner or later, i have to leave them.)

- I miss the daily meetings (yeah, i miss those meetings)

- I miss the bad guys (after labeling us disciples of darth vader, i have to agree, that yes... we are the darkside. That is according to some people. But you know what, try to think about it not only once, not twice but alot of times, are we really the darkside? or are we the enlightened ones? you decide)

So there you go, i love how things turned out after the "11-28" incident (oh wait, that was not original, let's just say it's the so-called "1128 cleansing act") heheh!

So that's the first part (oh wait a second, that was part 3 after all! hehehe)

To whom it may concern,
Greetings of peace....

First of all, i would like to say, it may not be a good day for you (either your happy because we are out or maybe you are sad because we are out) either way, i can't change the hard fact that yes, we are already out. And yes, some of you may feel bad but i am pretty sure that some of you also felt happy for the decision. Why you ask?

You may be happy because:

- Finally, those b**t***s are out, i/we now take over the office (are we the b's your talking or are you out there?)

- We now have more room to breathe (more of like more spaces to move)

- Bad apples are now out, the office will be harmonious the way it should be (are you sure?)

- No more people who will question what should be done (are you sure you making the right decisions?)

- We have the best team in town (again, are you sure? or are you one of those people whom are not worthy to be in authority because of your questionable credentials)

- Disgruntled employees ranting but what they can do (yeah, we are not disgruntled employees, rather, we are employees who have the heart in working to your prestigious company, only to find out that in the end, you only treat us like some kind of helper)

As for why you may be sad:
- ..........

I can't think of any reason why you should be sad.

oh wait i have one...

Who will do those clips that is being shown at your portfolio now that the guys who did that already either left or out of the company?

I'm sure you'll find another set of people..

but it may take time....

Nevertheless, I would to say thanks for those almost 3 wonderful years that i have served your company:

- The fun, the moments, the friends and almost family that your office had introduced to me.

- To the enemies (yeah, they are a part of it because without them, life is pretty less, plain and boring)

- The lessons i have learned and expeiences to share (yeah, whether it is a good or a bad one, it is still experience)

- And most of all, to the wonderful and talente people in the office (if you are on of them, give yourself a pat in the back, if your not one of the, let me personally kick you in the ass)

As for the people wh belived me, thank you and keep on believing.....

As for those who doesn't believe me and keeps on underestimating me, continue that, for you may know, karma do hits back.... and if i hit you in the ass, karma itself will twist and kick your balls until you scream like a sissy girl.

This has been a bad week for me. First, my lolo passed away, then for some weird reason, im having those bad vibes everyday. And then, to drop them off, Come Friday...

Murphy's law hits me:

1. I misplaced my wallet (which for some weird reason, fond it on my other bag)
2. Traffic here there and everywhere (got late going in the office)
3. Retrenchment (yep, apparently, due to economic crisis, that's what happened)

I don't want to elaborate more on the third reason for now. I will spare the souls of those who are involved for about 2-3 days (i'll be at the province) by then, when all is cleared, then i could write up a good sounding post....

NOT!

So for now i would like to give thanks to:

1. Family and my future wife (for the support, i know everything happens for a reason)

2. Friends
a.) True friends - Thanks for being there. See you around guys

b.) Deceiving friends - Yeah, you know who you are. I offered friendship and what do i get? Thanks for the time. Next time, make sure what really are the dark and light sides ok? Get the facts straight.

I can see the light.... and it is blinding me... also burning me... arrgghhhh!!!!!

I'd rather stay in the deep dark room rather than blinded with the false light...... After all, im sparing my sanity and soul to more useful things rather than useless hopes and promises.

Also, you are not god to judge me and you have no right, only god can judge me (oh i forgot, do you even believe in such things as supreme being? i do hope that inside that blinded heart of yours, there is still good remaining.... unless you are already blinded... then, i pity you)

Just to clear, im not talking about my lovelife or family (im very happy and blessed, they give me strength in dealing with people like you) so yeah, if you happen to be the person im talking about, i pity you.

Bad hair day.....

- Yesterday, i went to the salon to make my long hair trimmed (it's been growing so long in the past weeks) For those of you who haven't seen me in quite sometime, i was trying to grow my hair longer than the usual (dressing up a new look)

But then, things from good to bad....

I requested for the barber at Angelo Falconi Salon to "just trim on the sides and back"

Then as the process began, i can see amounts of hair falling on the ground...

oh no, the hair.... What have you done?

Anyhow, Here is my before and after treatment. You be the judge as to what looks better

Just today, I'm getting used to the new look. Some say i looked more refreshed, others say that my previous hair made me looked like a rockstar (some say Beatles look) But one thing is for sure, as long as i am not returning to the semi-bald look, Im A-ok!

A monumental event for me, since my very controversial mikester's world blogsite, which was closed upon reaching it's 100th post (well that blog already served it's purpose, time to move on) And yes, Points of Interests is here to stay and continue on and will evolve into something new. Just wait.

A couple of announcements:

- Yes, for those of you who don't know, Stereolalas (the band where i was before) is on indefinite hiatus. It has been a good ride. See you round guys

- Me and xtian (formerly of LFS) is forming a new band (*looking for members, interested parties may apply) We have decided to push through this old project and hopefully, this will be one fun and awesome band (Stereolalas were absolutely good, Lounge was amazing, LFS was fun, Intersections was the start of my band career)

- Currently playing Call of duty: World at war (yup, i got in the beta test) and it looks good. COD4 game engine with a touch of World War 2 environments and it has tanks and dogs.... yes you heard me right.... dogs.... (hounds from hell) heheh! go give it a try

- Since we are talking about games, i love NBA 2K9 on the pc. Finally, no more crappy carton look-a-like player (*cough live series cough*) More good games coming. i want to buy them and try them all. Here is the rundown of the games that i want to play.

NBA 2K9 - Already playing and it's awesome.
Fallout 3 - Played 1 and 2 and the are one of the best games to come out in their respective primes. Gotta get this 3rd installment.
Dead space - Horror at it's best (next to bioshock and resident evil)
Red Alert 3 - Damn, tanya is back! whooopee!

Long list... so many good games, so little space...

- Also, new albums to watch out for. Im looking forward to the Eraserheads reunion cd and Up dharma down's latest album, "Bipolar"

- Lito Camo (*yup, for those who know me, you know my view bout this guy) well finally, is somewhat getting my interest in music. Check out his band, Calsada and give it a spin. Finally, something to listen to from him.

- Changes here and there (career, life, job) but one thing is for sure, my love for my future wife hasn't changed even a bit. 9 for all time! mnmkbp999

- Im back into the music lab (that would be my guitar, some effects from luna which btw, thanks for letting me use them, and audition software) some tunes will be released a fe posts from now. Just wait for it.

- Happy Halloween everyone. Dont forget to visit your departed loved ones and offer them a minute of prayer, they would gladly appreciate it. Probably i'll be hands off at my pc for the next 2-3 days. I'll be at some place where net is limited or no connectivity at all. I need a laptop pc as i leave the house. I do need one. It's been almost a month since i last posted in points of interests. It's not that im lazy posting here, sorry for the delay. Been busy for quite sometime. Recent events and changes have been coming in my life. Right now, im at the low part of the so-called wheel of fate (don't get me wrong, i have a loving family, very supportive best friend and future wife (all in one package), and a very positive outlook in life)

So what's the problem you may ask?

Not emotional, probably it's some of the people around me. I won't be dropping names but im pretty sure for those people who knows me might have an idea as to what or who am i talking about.

I mean, we are all equal. That's what i know, that's what some people say, that's what the bible says. But then, there are some people who thinks they are beyond normal (i call them abnormal, heheh) but seriously, some may think they are far more superior to other people, elevating themselves to god-like level.

Fools.... that's what i call them....

Yeah, i know, this issue has been running for quite sometime and im keeping my silence about this matter. But due to recent events which i find unjustified, im breaking a part of my silence. But don't worry, i won't spit out what my rants would be or make my blog an attack-a-person blog for some of you people who im talking about (there are some many good things to talk about, and placing posts about nonsense people like you would be a great waste)

This would be my first and last warning to the people whom im pertaining this post to....

Besides, saying my "other" sentiments right at your face/s would be the best thing to do. Don't worry, you'll know them soon... pretty soon.... and i won't be gentle....

Be thankful im being reminded by my future pretty wife that "don't mind them, they'll get their time"

Fearless forecast. Yes i know it's a strong statement. But im sick and tired of people being emo. Living the way of emo... wearing black dresses and make-up. Butif you ask them what's emo, they would say "I don't know" This is the "in" style for 2008. Posers.... Alternative will be back because of the following reasons

a.) Decline of bands playing the so-called "emo" music (which i found out, there was no really an emo genre in the music industry.)

b.) New albums to look out for (which i will be tackling in the next paragraph)

c.) Decline of pogi (handsome) rock bands

As much as i wanted for Taken by Cars and Sugarfree Live! to be the albums of 2008, it really has some tough competition ahead. Take for example, this Friday, Bamboo and Sponge Cola will be releasing their albums at the same time. Ang Bandang Shirley's "Themesongs" had it's soft launch in the record bars (yay! finally got one)and not later this year, Wolfgang would be releasing a brand new album. New album releases from Ciudad, Overtone, Silent Sanctuary, April morning skies and the mother of albums (if this one would push through) The live album of the reunion concert of the Eraserheads (which by the way, some of the emo poseurs haven't even heard of this band, heck they don't know these 4 talented lads)

My Picks for the local albums for this year:

Sugarfree Live! - new album is amazing. Orchestral arrangement at it's finest. Still,
Taken by Cars - Endings of a new kind (has got this edgy ala-bloc party sound in my head)
Ang Bandang Shirley - Themesongs Hurrah for pop music. The songs from the Rizal day session ep was given a major overhaul and even sounded better on the album release)
Itchyworms - Self-Titled
Rico Blanco -Your Universe (A contender indeed. Nice lyrics, love the songs from the album)

So many albums to listen.... so little space on my ipod.

As for the foreign releases, My top picks for this year would be:

Death Cab For Cutie - Narrow Stairs
John Mayer - Where the light is live in Los Angeles
David Cook - still untitled album but will be released this year

Yes, im back with a new post. Moving on with life.

- Bought John Mayer's new DVD (Where the light is: Live in los angeles) and i have to admit, he is one awesome artist. This release is different from his previous work (Any given Thursday) Where there are 3 sets (Acoustic, John Mayer Trio, and simply John Mayer with his band) I highly recommend you guys get the CD and DVD.

- Also bought Rico Blanco's solo debut album (Your Universe) and i have to admit. Rico Blanco is the sound of Rivermaya (that proves his songwriting skills and musical arrangement) on this album. I can't help but imagine "Is this the new material from rivermaya? oh wait, it's rico blanco" One album to pick up guys while waiting for shirley's debut album.

- Been to the PSP modding scene as of the moment. Next project: Creating those fancy videos while you load the game.

- I want to buy a personal portable hard drive (my 1gig flashdrive is slowly dying as we speak) and i better find a replacement for this one.

- Recently, i discovered this new game (actually i cant describe as to what genre would this belong) It turns your Nintendo DS into an electronic synthesizer (how cool is that) This game is called the Korg DS-10. Perfect, i can now place synthesizing sounds on my recordings. This will be my new project (don't get m wrong, i have also been in the home recording process for quite sometime now) As soon as i can record samples, i'll upload it here. Perfect while waiting for my new musical journey to start.

- I have been browsing youtube videos lately and as the dark knight fever is slowly going down, there are a lot of spoof videos available for you to watch. Recently, complains about the voice of the dark knight has been an issue. you know, whenever you hear him talk, you want to give him a lozenge so that he can clear his throat. hehehe! Yes, pardon me for this personal post. Im sure you have already heard about this certain saying which is the title of this post. And for the past 25 years of my life, this has been my principle in life. I live with it cause basically that's how things work. I have been in that same situations in the past and hopefully with the things going on with my life, i can pass this phase and move on.

Don't get me wrong, i have a good job, a wonderful love life (mwah!)and a very supportive family at my back to be there for me. So if they are all cool and rockin, how come you are emoting like this? well, let's just say that there will be at one point wherein you will feel the urge that something is still missing in your life. Sure a stable job is a requirement, A very supportive person whom you promised to spend your whole life with and also very supportive family members with you.

Some might say personal growth in terms of career, others might say a change in their lifestyle, while some are willing to learn for the best. Or maybe a step up in their so-called life. Personal and probably for the good of others.

I can't say where i will fall on the mentioned reasons but here's a hint: It's somewhere there. You just have to find out where it is.

Right.... My officemate and good friend Tien (yup, that's how we call him) gave me this video link from youtube. Remember the Super Mario video game we loved to play on our NES (or in the Philippines, we call it family computer) ahh... the good ol' 8-bit days...

Now this level on the video is considered one of the hardest level ever for the game (this is not hidden whatsoever, why would the developers put out a nasty level layout like this.) and i swear, this is one frustrating level (also fun) Im trying to get a copy of that mod so that i personally can try it. I was laughing so hard not because of the level, but the player playing it (listen carefully and by the way, alot of swearing) The video is 23 minutes long so i suggest you get a pop corn and watch it!

Yup! this kid from Korea can surely turn some heads. Even i was amazed at how he plays the acoustic guitar at a young age (I remember my younger ears when i learned playing the guitar all by myself while looking at the songhits for chord patterns...) anyhow, just a video post for today. One amazing kid. His name is Sungha Jung. I wish in the future, we will have a kid like him. Now that would be cool if it would be a girl. Or even both. Then i will let them start their own band. Teheeheeh!

As im doing this post, im currently watching Macross Frontier. Damn, the effects looks good (Thanks Pax and Enzo for the copies) Full of rockets-flying-everywhere and transforming robots (which was the trademark of any Macross anime) plus a good storyline makes this one series to watch. Im currently looking for Code Geass (which i've heard is on it's second season right now)

Why am i watching anime series? Im waiting for some of the U.S. Series to start again on the 4th quarter of this year (Heroes Season 3, How i met your mother season 4, The Simpsons season 20, Family Guy Season 7... and the list goes on)

Time flies so fast. Imagine we are almost less than 5 months away before the year ends. This has been so far the best year for me. mnmkbp999

As for news, doing good on my current job but i feel there is something missing. I don't know but i can feel it to myself. Guess have to search it before time ends.

Yup at last! an update. Sorry been busy for a while. ^_^ enough with introductions, Let's get with it!

- Been busy at work. Making this new game. All i can say is that it is on a handheld console and something to do with balls. Watch out for that.

- Life has never been good for me. I can't complain. Im very happy right now. mnmkbp999

- Diablo 3 has been announced. A great and strong addition to the games for the PC lineup.

- Chrono Trigger (yes, the classic RPG from the SNES) will be coming to the Nintendo DS later this year.

- Recently, there have been rumors circulating the net (thanks luna for the info) and as i dug deper on this matter, it really shocked me. Right now, im listening to the eraserheads playlist on my pc (I have all their albums and bought them on cd format, that's how a diehard eheads fan i am.) Apparently, blind items are around that if you interconnect them. will (supposedly and i can't confirm nor deny this) will lead you to the much awaited event that will go down in history. Yep, the Eraserheads will be haveng either a 1 night reunion concert or the will be back for good.

How did this story led to the current evnts? here's a rundown of it.

1.) According to gorgoro's multiply site, there have been blind items that a certain band will finally reunite for a concert.

2.)The first image appears to be a chuck taylor, the shoes that they popularized back ing the good ol' ultraelectromagneticpop! album. Next would be a blurry image of 4 lads that is supposedly Ely, Buddy, Marcus and Raimund.

And so far, i have watched this setlist of ely buendia in sydney australia (Thanks for Youtube user StayDefiant for the videos. Click here to watch them.) Apparently the setlist was composed of old eraserheads songs. Hmm.... could this be a practice for Ely right before the event? Maybe....maybe not. Either way, if this event is true, then i'll be going there (with my special someone of course) and we will live the days that eraserheads ruled the airwaves. After all, each and everyone of us has our own eraserheads song that we can relate to. How about you? What is your Eraserheads song?.

Sorry for the delay. I was planning a video blog for this entry but due to time constraints and problems, i'll be prepping it up probably the next post. Sorry for the delay.

Anyhow, here's what's happening:

- As you all know, today marks the release of Firefox 3 (for those of you who don't know, Mozilla Firefox is a web browser program. Similar to internet explorer) and they have a pledge going on by placing Mozilla Firefox 3 on the Guinness book of world records for the most downloaded program on a single day. And i believe they did achieved it. The best part for us users is that we are treated to awesomeness (right now, Firefox is one of the most used and popular web browser around) I joined the pledge in downloading Firefox 3 and look what i got:

- Been designing this game for quite sometime. I can't tell you the details but one thing is for sure, this is one helluva game if accepted. ^_^

- Im currently addicted to watching (no, not that thing you watch) this dvd i bought. I'ts the B-sides and rarities of deftones. One cool cd and dvd combo. Just get it.

- Been to toycon recently. lots of toys there but unfortunately, i wasn't able to get one.

- Im now glaring at an LCD monitor right here in my room and i have to say that it's HUUGGEE (or is it just me) Which looks cool on my current setup.

- Rainy days are here again. Kinda weird weather. One moment it's hot the next thing you'll know, it's raining.

- Metal Gear Solid 4 is now out... Damn! i want me a PS3....

- Watch Definitely, Maybe. One heartwarming and touching move.

- Im planning to get a new cd by the end of he month.The problem is, no good releases as of the moment. Howell, better save up for next month could be the month im waiting for.

Time flies so fast. We are already at the second half of the year. Goodbye summer and hello rainy days. I'll place here some rant posts and some good posts. Let's start with:

Rant posts:
Item 1 - People exposing their lives improperly (a.k.a blogging at the wrong place)

Blogging nowadays are the "in" thing. You get to share our thoughts, opinions, ideas, etc.Blogging can also be considered as the new form of media for aspiring and veteran people out there. There are such sites as Wordpress, Blogger, Livejournal, Deviantart (just to name a few)

But what happens when some people (i won't be dropping names for their privacy) do blogging at the wrong place? Where you ask? Cellphones (as group messages) Bulletins (Friendster, Myspace, Heck even e-mails) i mean come on guys, it's nice of you telling us what are you doing, how have you been, and what are your plans in the coming days, but please, please do place it in the proper place where it belongs, a blog space over the net.

Item 2 - Effectivity vs. Cheapness

I have been playing fighting games in the arcades (let's face it, i still need to relax once in a while and this is my channel. plus, it's somewhat keeps me updated on what's new, which is in return, needed in my job as a game developer.) I have been playing Tekken 6 for quite sometime and just like what i rant in the early iterations of this game, the cheap shots keeps on coming in.

For example, alot (and i mean alot) of them keeps on doing the same combo over, and over, and over, and wait for it..... over again. I mean come on, some say doing combos are effective to keep your opponent down (which i agree) but when it comes to the point of doing it for what, the "REST OF THE FRIGGIN GAME" well, that has got to be lame. To all the players out there, i have nothing against you guys, but please, don't waste you time playing the game doing the same old cheap combos over and over again. It's not healthy for your skills, rather it makes you dull. I tell you guys!

Ok, Rants over.

Good posts:
- David cook you rock! in case you didn't know, i made a bet on the finals of American Idol this year. The bet, If David Cook wins, i get 200 pesos plus 1 shot of an Airsoft pistol on the butt of my opponent (which i'll remain unnamed, i salute you man, a good sport) but if David Archuleta wins, he'll be doing the same to me. Man, what a good bet

- After winning a bet, here comes the losing part. Kim (my officemate) and i made a bet between the Spurs and Lakers (where in he really adores kobe bryant) so i go for the spurs. Unfortunately, i lost the bet. arrgghh.... that's ok... Lakers will crash and burn in the finals... hahahahaha!

- Been to Mugen bar last Friday night (with Charie and her friends) and we did have a good time.

- On to pitches on game designs (for what are the, that is the big secret) but nevertheless, they are interesting games.

- Waiting for Kung-Fu panda to be shown in theaters. I'll watch it with her. ^_^

- Will be getting Death Cab For Cutie's new album, Narrow stairs (yes pony, im buying the original one. The album is worth it.)

- Also waiting for these albums: Ang bandang shirley's debut album (which i heard will be titled "Thmesongs" according to their multiply page), Sleepwalk Circus, Itchyworms, Weezer, Asian Kung-fu Generation and more.

Apologies for the late post. i know, my last post was may 1 and it's already the last week. Been busy for quite sometime. Here's a simple rundown.

- Been busy at work. Testing and game designing is a lot.
- Stereolalas is on break as of he moment. We will be back as soon as you know it.
- Been watching a lot of movies (Iron man, Speed racer, 21, semi-pro, etc)
- Nevertheless, everything is cool. Never been happy with my life
- Been to Subic with someone special.
- Been on an annual physical examination (as required by the company)
- Composed a song, edited a video, got in connection with old friends.
- Creating a new bannerhead for my blogsites.
- Facebook person nowadays.
- Been praying alot (for 1 wish which is... secret)
- Wishes to buy new cds for listening pleasure
- Listening to Angulo's "Blur the white lines" album and it rocks.
- Been addicted to pictures.
- In support of George's move to promote video blogging. (Which by the way, i'm planning to do it here) maybe soon.

So you see, i have been busy for quite sometime. But rest assured the next month, i'll update as frequently as possible.

Yes, i know it's been a while since i last posted in my blog. so here's the rundown of events

Got the new Asian Kung-Fu Generation DVD (thanks hypermike) and the dvd is soo cool!
Changes at the office. Many people left and will be leaving. I guess this is the change period. no worries cause new people are also coming in the office.
Change of job: yes i am now a Game Designer Quality Analyst at my current company. Let the game designing begin.
Into my personal project. What is that you might ask? secret ^_^
I already started Points of interests in wordpress (technically, that blog was not that active before) so if you have time, feel free to visit it here.
Also, im setting up a new blogsite called "tekkigalore"
Finally, the Stereolalas will be playing again at Mag:Net High Street for Dorquetastic. We'll be playing alongside The Dorques, The Low Techs and College Coed. After that , We still have gigs this may. but let's save it for another post.

The getaway (part 2)

(*sorry for the delayed post. been busy this past few days)

Day 1: The white beach
And so we arrived at Pagudpud white beach. What! no sun signal? how can i call my baby? well, good thing i still have 2 more numbers to reach her. We stayed at Evangeline resort. Nothing much, just a simple room with 2 beds for 2 persons and 2 extra beds on the floor. We came in at around 9am so we still have to wait till 1pm so that the previous occupants of the room can pack their things and leave. We had breakfast at Emohruo (Which btw, thanks to joy, i figured out what does it mean) We checked in at around 11 am (i think) and after staying there, went to sleep to regain strength and prepare for the day ahead. After waking up, we applied sunblock on our bodies and off we to the beach! woohoo!

The place was not crowded unlike the other beaches i know. The view of the mountains afar and the sea was spectacular. Fresh air, silent sound of the waves, a very relaxing place. We dipped in the water at around 3:30-4 pm (though leo swam in the water earlier as he really likes water) and boy the water was clean, the current was calm and you get to spend the day relaxing. Sweet!

Later that evening, we went on to have dinner and the food was ok, but the service was slow. Imagine, 30 minutes before you can savor your food. Howell, at least the food is served hot. Btw, the restaurant had 2 resident dogs (whom are very friendly) They are stat, a labrador and maxxy, a shitzu. Again, the place was quiet (since ther are only a number of people there unlike puerto galera but heck, at least it's relaxing) After we had dinner, tony, luna, leo and me decided to have a henna tattoo. I got these chinese character symbols on my right arm (which up till now, is still here but slowly fading away) then we went on to rest and sleep for another day will begin for us 6.

Day 2: The tour
I woke up at around 6:30 am. Joy and ed were already up. Went to shore and woot, alot of people were already there playing beach volleyball, swimming in the waters, others just strolling around. I went on to the vendors beside the beach selling bracelets, anklets, necklaces and souvenirs just to name a few. We were scheduled to go on a tour at 10 am so we have to pack early. After eating breakfast, We packed up and so the tour begins. I'm armed with this slippers that charie gave me. At last as i walk around, she's with me. :)

The tour consisted of different tourist spots in pagudpud. First stop: Bangui Windmills. They were so cool. Imagine, if that was a ride at enchanted kingdom, that would be a lot better than anchors away, heck even space shuttle heheh! We took pictures here and the welcome arc to pagudpud and along the highway to paraiso ni anton after that...

Blue Lagoon
One word.... Awesome! The beach is like very very clear... the water was very blue and shallow waters (but we didn't went afar from shore because of stories that alot of people already drowned at blue lagoon. This has got to be the best part of the tour for me. Can't wait to get back here.

After getting wet at blue lagoon, the next stop would be at bantay abot cave. Thanks to luna for the emo shots. heheh! coolness..

Last stop would be the kaibigan falls. One sweet and cold location. Why sweet? We took at least an hours worth of hiking just to get to the place. It was inside the mountains. Why cold? because the water in the falls was freezing... We still had no lunch till 4 but it was worth it.

Wish you were here
The tour ended us up back to the white beach. Our departure time from pagudpud is around 8pm. As we bid farewell to the beach, I have to admit, this has got to be one tiring yet relaxing day for me. The view was good, the places, surroundings and you can feel that you are really one with nature. Can' t wait to get back in pagudpud.

The getaway (part 1)

Yeah, and so im back here in my room, infront of my pc. In short, i'm home! hooray!

This past weekend, i went to pagudpud together with 4 of my officemates (Tony, Leo, Luna and Ed) and with Joy, Ed's girlfriend. It was one cool weekend i must say.

The getaway:
This plan started way back january (or february i think) Luna wanted to go on a getaway (relax from the hectic work we were experiencing) and whala! The next thing i knew, they were gathering people who wanted to join the trip to pagudpud (the so-called boracay of the north) and then the people who will join the trip were completed. and so we started our getaway....

Pre-pagudpud:
We were bound to leave manila on the 4th of April at around 9:30pm. The trip would take as long as 10-12 hours (whoa! this is going to be a long trip) We finished work (Tony, Pony, Leo) at around 7pm so that we can leave to get to the bus terminal by 9:30 pm. Ed and Joy will meet us up there as they hold the receipt for our seats. We arrived at around 9pm, perfect. We were seated at the back part of the bus (this is going to be one bumpy ride)

The long, hard, bumpy trip:
And so the bus departed at around 9:40pm. The toilet sign says it all... Do not do number 2 (as luna would say it, go figure)

The movie that was playing inside the bus was The Eye (U.S. Version so expect the toned-down horror and somewhat lost in translation feel of the movie) after the movie (which i didn't watched because of 1. Poor sound quality since we were a the back seat of the bus and 2. no subtitles in which case, making it very impossible to understand so my solution waited for my future wife's call and after that, i slept! haha!)

The bus had 2 stopovers. One was around 12 midnight around tarlac or la union i think and the other one was in ilocos sur (that was around 5am) after which the bus played another movie. This time from Jet li and Jason Statham entitled "WAR" After at least 12 hours.... The photo on the left was the bus setup and point of view on where we are seated.

The Arrival:

And so after 12 hours of sitting, standing, sleeping, bumpy ride to pagudpud, we made it! yipee! pagudpud! here we are. We arrived the terminal, looking for 1.) a restroom 2.) a place to pose for our picture and 3.) how to get back to manila. And now the fun begins....

- Also, i want to buy my own drumset (need more money)

- Waiting for the 4th dvd of my favorite J-rock band, Asian Kung-Fu Generation.

- Also waiting for Ang Bandang Shirley's debut album.

- Overall, Been a busy and hectic march but hey, im very happy with the things that's happening in my life. i love her so much. She's the reason why im overcoming all the problems and stress in every day that passes....

Which reminds me. We were suppose to play last Saturday in the Blur vs. Oasis night but due to schedule differences, this was not pushed through. I found this cool pic that aids did for the band.

Been awhile since i last posted on my blogsite. Why you ask?

- Very busy lately (the office is now located somewhere in makati)

- Alot of movies in queue on my pc that i haven't watched yet (The air i breathe, Balls of fury, American Gangster, Step up 2 and Michael Clayton just to name a few)

- Been busy with the band (Currently we have 2 original compositions and more on the way. We played the first one titled "It takes 2" at the Attraction! Reaction! gig last March 7. The other one, well still very rough but were on it)

- Incubus (yeah, they rocked manila and we were there to watch it)

- Got the Family Guy seasons 1-6 dvd's (Thanks nilo)

- No net at the office yet (Yeah, That's part of the so-called migration from one place to another)

- Never been very happy with my life (Thank you very much for being always being there)

Moving out - Yes this will be our last week in the Alabang office. The same office where i started working. Why you ask? We are moving to Makati (a busy place you might say) People from all walks of life do work there and the Anino boys and girls will be joining them in a few days. As we are cleaning up the old office, i can't help but wonder the office feels so empty, we will be leaving our so-called home for the past year and a half and we'll be moving in with the guys from the other office (the people who makes mobile games) and we will be a one big family. Howell, savor the last days in Alabang. Eat mabulate fishballs! hahah!

Were back - After a month of being absent in the gig scene, the Stereolalas are back! We will be playing at Mag:net High street in Bonifacio for the Attraction Reaction event. This will be a first for the lalas in the said venue. March 7 is the date so mark your calendars. I'll be posting more details as soon as we confirm it.

Vblog - After a test broadcast of my Vlog (Viedo blog), there were some suggestions that i got and don't worry, i'll be appling them on m next vlog (err aids and mykol, are you sure that a little skin would help? hehehe)

Hey megalomaniac - Yes, Incubus will be back here in the Philippines. I'll be watching the said event together with my bandmates and an officemate. Woohoo!

- Recently (up until now as im doing this blogpost) The Taken By Cars album is still spinning on my cd player. damn! These guys really are the next big thing. Right now, it's available at their bar tours but soon it will be released under warner music philippines. I'd recommend you guys to buy the album.

- Also, im eying out for these albums mainly: Tersera by Mayonnaise, S marks the spot by Sandwich and World World World by Asian Kung-Fu Generation (yeah! the only J-rock band i love to listen to)

- Too bad the StereoLalas gig @ saguijo this feb. 13 will not push through. But hey, don't worry, we'll keep you updated as to when our next gig will be.

- Also, we are in the process of songwriting of our own originals. We will be back at the band studio tomorrow to let our creative juices flow and who knows, we might make a song or 2. We'll keep you posted also on this one.

- Right now, kinda need some rest after a hectic week Which is good that the jam will be this sunday) Time to release some stress on the drum set! yebah!

- In other news, it has been 2 weeks since that fateful event.... whoa! time flies so fast. The next thing you'll notice, it has been forever..... love you so much! mwah!

February - The month of love.....

February is here... ahh love is in the air... and a couple of things im doing like:

- The game im testing into is going to it's beta phase. Only a little more time until it becomes gold! Alright!

- Originals from StereoLalas are on the way. If you have a facebook account, please do add us up. We have an account there that you can join. Oh and by the way, please do catch us on February 13 (a day before valentines) at Saguijo for Helter Shelter night.

- Will be going to the album bar tour of Taken By Cars (the next big thing, imo) to hit the airwaves. That is of course, after our band practice later this afternoon

- Recently watched Juno and American Gangster. Looking forward to watch Cloverfield (which i've heard was a good movie) also, waiting for Endo (a local indie film) to hit the movie theaters. Im going to watch it with someone special to me (yihee!)

- Which will lead me to yes, im currently in love. I love her soo much! :)

- Incubus tickets are here! Thanks luna for reserving the tickets. Can't wait for March 8! woohoo!

- If you have the spare time surfing videos on youtoube, look for Batsu game. This sreies is one helluva funny. Morizaemon has some videos on his/her account

- And so the month of love! i know some things but in respect for those people who are involved, i will keep my mouth shut. All i can say is that, im happy for those people i know.... Truly love is in the air....

When the pedals from saguijo turned bad....

Yah, Saguijo is one of those sweet spots in the metro wherein famous bands perform and play. It's like a haven for all the rockers out there. Well, last Jan 19, StereoLalas were there to perform for Joy Division/New Order night and man it was one rockin' groovy night to say the least.

Just before going to a jam/gig, it has been a habit for me to at least drink a tall/grande cup of signature hot chocolate from Starbucks (gives me the sugar rush i need) I also had my first taste of rice for that day at round dinner time.

We came in there at around 9:50pm (The show started at around 9:30 pm) so it was good for us. Prior to the gig, we had a last minute warm-up/practice at broken chord studios. It was so tiring, probably because the aircon in the studio is having problems giving enough cold air inside the room. So anyways, back to Saguijo....

We were surprised to see some friends and officemates in the place. (we were expecting Jar and squared, former officemates and Kim to be there but Tony? cool!)

So there we were, our turn after "The Christmas Lights" set was done. In the drummers point of view, i can barely see the faces in the audience (lights directly in my eyes... arrghhh) so anyway, we opened up the set with our sound check song titled "Maps" by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Right from the start, i can feel that this set would be one helluva set... We started with the song "Temptation" when i noticed that the bass pedal isn't working anymore... oh my god.... not now....

Well, at least the tech guy from saguijo managed to fix it and right before i knew it, i was using the bass pedal again. Time to rock the house! With no time wasted, we immediately played the songs Ceremony, Regret and to wrap it all up, Crystal. The energy that both StereoLalas and the audience had was amazing! After our set, we stayed up a little while before going home. Too bad i didn't catch Vince Noir Project (which i heard was really great that night) and The Purplechickens.

Overall, it was one memorable night and one rockin night. I have a feeling that StereoLalas will be back in this place to rock the house down. We are still gathering pictures on that great memorable night and as soon as we can find more, i'll be posting it here

- Woke up at around 6am this morning. Plans for today? get rest in the morning and brave the streets of the metro. Tonight will be the night the Stereolalas will be performing @ Saguijo for Joy Division/New Order night. The last time i was there, i was a mere spectator of the bands that were performing that night. Now, it's our turn to play in the said place. Wish us luck! Oh and by the way, For those who will be going, See you there!

- Since yesterday, im experiencing problems with my globe line. Reason? No outgoing (call, text, heck even balance checking) The trouble of not having these features on your cellphone makes you want to throw the simcard and get a new one (unfortunately on my case, i can't do it) since all my contacts way back from elementary people i know up till college already knows this number. This is also the number i placed on my calling card so yeah, i'll be screwed up if i'll throw away this number. Solution? getting a second number from "another" network. Smart move indeed!

- Was sick yesterday so i was not around the office. Later that day, i found out that i was not the only one who was sick, but there were at least 3-4 persons who were also absent. Weird. Well at least im ready for tonight's awesome gig!

- Currently watching (again) 1 litre of tears, a japanese drama that i bet would be shown here in the Philippines soon (or not since our fellow kababayans are more interested on korean novelas) if you will have the free time of watching a j-dorama, i'd recommend this one.

- And yes, Renaldo Lapuz is making waves in the U.S.A. His song is that infectious to them. Way to go!

- Recently upgraded my psp to the latest version (3.80) and afterthoughts on it? i want to revert it back to 3.71... waaah! Tekken 5 is so laggy on the new firmware update. Perhaps a fix?

- As for Call of duty 4, im in the hunt of getting the legit one. I don't care if i'll start to level 1 again, at least im doing the right thing for the game industry.

- Last but not the least, if anyone of you out there knows anyone (or even you) knows where i can get the futurama and family guy dvds, im willing to purchase them. Just drop by a message here in my blog.

Been busy in the past few days so that's the reason why the post just came in today.

- The game we were doing just went alpha last week. I can't say what exactly it is but one thing is for sure, this game will keep you playing for hours. Alpha 2 coming. More sleepless nights (btw, 3 days 2 straight nights)

- Recently played "Assassins Creed" for the PS3. I have to say... Graphics are superb... Gameplay? Graphics are superb... That's all i can say.

- Im planning to buy a drumset of my own (technically, im one musician that doesn't have any instruments of my own.) Also, a great exercise machine...

- Got my own Starbucks planner. Thanks for the people who helped me fill out the stickers.

- Had a band practice yesterday for the gig this coming Saturday. This will be Stereolalas 2nd gig. Kinda iffy on the drum pattern but somehow managed to got it. :) We practiced songs namely Ceremony, Regret and Crystal. We also had our first band meeting yesterday about future plans for the band and the members itself. Things are looking bright in 2008.

- Original compositons are on the way. So exciting.

- Finally, bought me a set of earplugs (perfect for those drumming sessions)

Last night turned out a great night for the year for both me and Stereolalas. Mainly, it was our first public gig as a band and first gig of the year. I'll make it short (since i still need more sleep.... 3am and waking up at 7:30 am is no joke)

i would like to thank a couple of people namely:

Dante and the Yale housemates - Cool party, cool people, cool guitar hero setup and of course, i love the chocolate fountain setup! Thanks again for the place. We had a good time

Stereolalas (luna, aids and dax) - For the performance last night. Boy, i do feel we gave justice on the songs :)

Owel - For the invitation and letting us play for Death Cab for Cutie night 2 @ Route 196 Thanks! looking forward to shirley's album!

As luna mentioned in her blog, we didn't have any pics from last night's gig (mainly because we were the performers onstage) but some we know who were there took a couple of pictures while we were playing. I'll be crediting them as i get the pictures :)

Im here in my room right now listening to the setlist that stereolalas will be playing tomorrow night on Death Cab for Cutie night 2. We'll be playing second set (Technically, the first band since spazzkid is an electronic act) so yeah, Front act for the other bands that will be playing on I don't know if it's true but according to the official multiply blog of Ang Bandang Shirley, they will be playing tomorrow night. I'll be waiting for their set. Also, i'll be watching other bands tomorrow night that will play after us. Watch out for them as they are really a good band.

Right now, the music playing on my winamp playlist happens to be from an up and coming band called Taken by Cars. I must admit, their music is catchy and yeah, they are definitely one band to look out for. Can't wait for their album. :)

In a few hours, we will be saying adieu to 2007 and hello 2008. This blog will be on it's first year anniversary once January comes. And just like what i have been doing in my other blog, i'll be posting a year in recap; a first here in points of interests.

And so we rewind to...

January - Points of interests was born. The purpose of this blog is for me to post reviews on albums, games, movies, anything that is interesting. Also, January marked up as a new year to start on 2007 (well, 2006 kinda sucked in one way or another for me but it all sums up to the unforgettable event that happened in December of 2006)

February - The mother of someone dearest to me passed away on valentines day. How sad for her, i was there to comfort her in any way i can. Guess valentines day would mean another thing to me. Also, i reconciled with some whom i thought i would never hear again. This had got to be 1 good thing for me.

March - Month of graduations.... err wait, i already graduated way back in 2006. :)

April - This was the time when Anino Games (the company where i work) employees invaded the island of Puerto Galera. This was the time when some of us got to know much abut each other. One cool summer.

May - Election period. We were bombarded with too much advertisements on the boob tube. Also, the most talked about 3rd album of Linkin Park was released on this month.

June - Word Archery demo from Anino Games was released and was entered in the 2nd Annual Indie Game Developer Showcase. Kudos to ed and team supreme for a job well done (why? read on) Also, lineup changes were happening in the office. Why? to seek out opportunities abroad. Also, i was at the wedding of my favorite uncle (I was their best man! yeah!)

July - Nothing much happened.. steady month

August - The month i have been waiting for... my birthday. Also, this was the month wherein i set my foot on stage again in a band (yipee) i was once a part of a band called We kick ass for the lord. One memorable month. My birthday was approaching and playing again in a band? coolness. Oh and i got me an electric guitar for my birthday.

September - Switchfoot came here in manila. The concert was rockin' great! Also, met some new friends that were part of the official club here in the Philippines. This was also the month when i gave a talk about careers in my sanctuary, the grounds of De La Salle - Dasmariñas.

October - Pupil's sophomore album came out this month. Surprisingly, it's still spinning in my cd player up till now. One good example of a follow-up album. Also, i, together with luna and kim (my officemates) went to "iyak na u, iyak na me, iyak na us" gig at saguijo. Twisted Halo came in to play. Coolness!

November - The desperate housewives issue came out. Racist as the filipino people shouted in angst. Also, the month wherein someone dear to me lost another person in her life. i have to be there by her side, make her feel better and rest assured that as long as im with her, i'll make everything alright. in other news around this month, we received the news that word archery placed 2nd in the contest.

December - Christmas month. Just like last 2006, December was the month for me? why? This was the month when Stereolalas was born, I was fascinated with Angels and Airwaves, i danced again after a long period of time, My internet speed was upgraded, I got my PSP, but on top of those, the time i spent again with her. She really could be my angel, and im hoping that this would never end...

and so as i looked back on the past year, It has been a rollercoater year for me. But what matters most is that, im thankful i've managed to survive that year.

Looking towards 2008 and more years to come!

Already around 2 weeks before christmas. Busy shoppers everywhere, buying themselves presents and new dresses... what have i been up to?

* Wanted to buy either the Assassins Creed Altair figurine or the RC mini copter (battery operated) yah i know, you might say that i have a childish taste inside me. Well, they both look cool and fun to play with..

* Currently in a band (this time, a new lineup) had the first practice and it feels good. There was chemistry, there was harmony. heheh! and thus Stereo Lalas were born. ^_^

* A new 160 gig hard drive is now installed n m pc. Mwah! alot of space...

* Recently upgraded to 812kbps internet connection. Finally, freedom from 128! woohoo!

* The dance for the christmas party was over! check out luna's blog for pictures

* Currently addicted to blacking out the friction from death cab for cutie. I don't know why? maybe the drum beat? coolness

* Started watching How i met your mother season 3.

* Heroes season 2 ended. Damn strike! we want more. we can't wait till september 2008. a very looong wait.

* Everything is falling into place. hope this one continues. Mwah!

* Reached level 46 at Call of Duty 4.

Last day of the month

Goodbye november and hello december. I can't help but wonder 2007 is coming to a close. After almost 11 months of joy, sorrow, laughter and triumph. This year has it all. I'll do the year end look back probably this year at this blog (just like what i did the past 2 years on my other blogpage.)

What's up?

- Still hunting for Call of duty 4 (the original one) damn! this one is hard to find in almost all Datablitz stores. Also addicted to the game. Currently im at level 36

-Enjoying my PSP and unlocking it's potential (as a video player, mp3 player, flash player) Im loving this new toy

- Almost at the end of season 2 of "How i met your mother" Must get the season 3 episodes.

- Same goes for Prison Break.

- Heroes Season 2 is almost at it's end. Thank god im updated on that series. ^_^

- Still waiting for the new Incubus dvd to hit the stores. The clips shown on youtube looks promising.

- The Anino dance will be tomorrow... may god have mercy on us all.

- Band practice starts this Sunday. Hope we do good.

- I am finally getting a new hard drive for my pc. Can't accomodate the games, movies, mp3's anime, etc. on my current rig setup.

- Mutiny for the second time by magdalo happened yesterday.

Alot of things happened this week:

1. Finally, got my PSP slim (early christmas gift) and now im enjoying it. Don't worry DS Lite, i still love you. :)

2. Got the new album of "Urbandub" (their 4th album) and overall, there's something missing. Nevertheless, a good album. Go get it.

3. My good friend and officemate Squared resigned from the office. You'll be missed dude. Goodluck on your future endeavors.

4. Dance practice for the Christmas party presentation is still on... Moskau! Moskau!

5. Still, no reply from the cellphone company (refer to my previous post) howell, the settlement continues....

6. Currently at level 32 on Call of Duty 4 (Multiplayer mode) Bragging rights perhaps? hehe.

7. "How i met your mother" Season 2 is currently spinning on my dvd player. Having a good time watching the series

Im looking forward to the band practices (for a couple of gigs) that will be coming. Also, as what luna mentioned in her blog, the dreaded day of December 1 is coming.... may god have mercy on us all.

Celebration:
I got my PSP Slim earlier than i expected.

Rants:
1. No zero interest (have to use my moms credit card)
2. Mega Cellular network (SM Manila branch) your personnel sucks.

"Why? They lost the friggin' SSS card of my mom. If the "other" store has the black model of the slim psp, i would have gotten from their store"

And all this guy can only was "Sorry po" apologies are too late my boy.

Anyhow, we'll wait from their response within this week. if they don't have any developments on this issue, i'll personally file a letter of complaint to the main office of this store (it may sound overreacting but hey, the customer is always right! and im exercising my right as a cutomer in behalf of my mom.)

I didn't go to work today because of this physical check-up that i have to do.

Haven't got the results yet but i hope they are all fine.

As for the gaming world, well, 3 next-gen first person shooters are now available for the PC in the market today.

In other news, i have to say goodbye to my PS2. After more than a year of good times, it has to go. Why? i'll be selling it to get a PSP slim this christmas as a gift to myself (Last year, i got the Nintendo DS Lite, which up to now never fails to present fun for me) Im not getting a console... why? i have a plan.... what's the plan? if im going to tell you, then i would have to kill you. hehe!

As for this post, i have found this very rare music video of incubus entitled "circles". This track was way back their "Morning View" album (i can recall buying this album back when i was still in 2nd year college) aww... the memories. Well, being an incubus fan, i would like to share this very rare video that i found on youtube.

Oh and by the way, they will be releasing a new DVD this november entitled "Look alive" (the title itself is taken from the bonus track off their light grenades album.) I'm looking forward to get that one. Finally, a new dvd from incubus....

I, together with Luna and Kim went to Saguijo last wednesday night to watch 4 bands perform (2 of them which are already disbanded but for one night, they will again play together)

The band lineup that night would be:

1. Ciudad - 3 piece band that night but they still rock! mico the happy bear!

2. Itchyworms - Played songs from their first album, definitely a classic

3. Boldstar - Were also at the route 196 gig for joons farewell party (where we played also)

4. Twisted Halo - Version 1 as vocalist Vin Dancel would call it that night.

I almost clapped so loud after twisted halo played "Brad" and "Untitled #4" damn! those were two songs i loved in the EP (They didn't played breakable and closed captioned since it was in the first album and not on the EP)

As for Boldstar, pork siomai and boom desire were already classics. The crowd kept on shouting "Justin, Hubad!" cool rockin' crowd!

Great night (a night of friendship as they say it) as i also met some members from the bands that played on that fateful night!

After Dark

Just a video to share. My fave band from japan Asian Kung-Fu Generation had just released their newest PV after almost a year since their last one. They are now back and boy this song rocks. It may take a few listens before you get the hang of it but nevertheless, a good song.

Pupil - Wildlife

Finally at long last, a quick review of Pupil's latest album "Wildlife" This is their follow-up from their debut album "Beautiful Machines" which produced the hits Nasan ka?, Dulo ng Dila, Dianetic just to name a few. This album nearly never existed, due to the fact of Ely's near-death experience early this year. This album has been spinning in my cd player and playing in my ipod for a while. Why? This is just a superb album in my opinion. A great follow-up from their first one, and this lived up to it's expectations.

A rundown of the tracks in the album:

1. Fin - the first track which was sung by ely's wife, dianne. A slow acoustic track

2. Matador - Here is where the rockin' starts... catchy drumbeats and guitar riffs will surely blow your speakers away...

3. Monobloc - another guitar-riff driven track... reminds me of those brit bands like "franz ferdinand" (listen closely to the chorus part.)

4. Here i go again - A dark and heavy track, mostly drum parts are present.

5. Talon - Ely takes a break from singing and Yan Yuzon takes over the vocals. overall, one of my favorite tracks in the album. I liked the lead part and the construction of lyrics... take a listen to it and you'll figure why Yan is not like his brother, Yael.

6. Sumasabay - Again, ely takes a break and Dok Sergio takes on the vocals. An easy song to sing, catchy, specially the "oi" part. One of my favorite tracks also in the album.

7. Animal Lover - Now ely is back singing. This reminds me of "Blow your house down" from their first albumin terms of the guitar riffs and drumbeat.

8. Teacher's Pet - A groovy song that somewhat reminds me of one eraserheads song (i forgot the title) but there's no comparison to it, "eheads is eheads" and "pupil is pupil" right?

9. Sala - Their carrier single in this album. I first heard this one almost 2 months ago while on my way to a birhday part and i said to myself, "Whoa! pupil ba yan? astig" and so the rest is history. This is a song about the environment. cool!

10. Disconnection Notice - Disco-nncetion notice... this song says it all.

11. Bato - A trippy song, farewell song... this slows the album after a hard rockin set of songs that came before this track....

12. Set Me Apart - Probably the best track in the album (next would be Talon and Sumasabay) this was used as the theme for "Animax" catchy riff by yael and kudos to the arrangement of the whole song.

Overall, this is a contender for album of the year. Im not being biased but this could be my choice as "album of the year" Kudos to the guys for a job well done. I know this might sound "jologs" but i don't care, im going to get my copy of the album signed by the band. cmon, pupil? they rock! Get the album at all cost. get the original one and i'll tell you... no regrets! buy it!

Yeah, that's one reason why the post for pupil's new album has been delayed. And im soo sorry... but i can't help but watch Prison Break. IMO, one of the coolest shows since MacGyver was shown on TV. Just watch it and i promise by the next post, a rundown of the tracklist of "Wildlife" pupil's new album.

Meanwhile, this is the video most watched in the office in the past week...

The highlight of this commercial? starts from :10 seconds till :15 seconds... now that's short but sweet! ^_^

I'll be getting Pupil's new album "Wildlife" tomorrow. I have been hearing "Sala" and "Set me apart" and i must admit, they are catchy and rockin' tunes. A contender as one of the anticipated albums of 2007.

Returning to the roots (Part 2)

And so this is the second part. i have some of the pictures (thanks to Gputz)

These are the speakers that were invited. Im on the far left; Ivy, Angel and George. Ivy is now an Event Coordinator while Angel on the other hand is working on a shipping company; but take note, she's taking up masters degree in Broadcasting in U.P. Manila. Whoa! come to think of it, im planning to take up masters also (in the near future) On your far right, (The other guy) is George; currently working at Studio 23 and making commercial plugs for shows like Desperate Housewives, Kyle XY; just to name a few. Cool guy!

And so the talk begins. Angel went up first, talking about her experiences in QTV 11, (She was in Jessica Soho's show entitled "Sana'y muling makapiling") and made sure that each and every student attending in that talk was serious in taking up Broadcast Journalism. Overall, her talk was meaningful.

2nd in line was me. (sorry, no pic, i guess they don't want to take a picture of a clown in the stage that time. hehehe!) had a powerpoint presentation ready and so i talked the audience away (btw, luna thanks for the tip!) and it seems that some of them are interested in taking up game development when they graduate (i showed them the possible jobs that they can take after they graduate) plus i showed them the Anino Games trailer plus the Arrowfresh project (after all, it's just a wash away) hehe! and so to the next speaker...

Ivy, this girl is so energetic. once she starts talking, there's no stopping her. She talked about her experiences when she was still a child up to now. She even gave tips for those who wanted to be successful in their field of work. By the way, she recently worked at Sony BMG Philippines)

And last but not the least, George went up on stage. He showed us some of his works (commercial plugs) of the shows to watch over at Studio 23. i said to Angel "just before i left the house, i saw them on TV. hehe! now i have something to brag on when i see those plugs... i know who made them! heheheh!"

And so the talk ended at around 3pm. After that, souvenirs were handed for the speakers. And here we are accepting them. The experience was fun at the same time, something to learn on. At least that afternoon, we were happy enough to share our experiences to the young crowd and taught them how cool the course is and at the same time, demands focus and concentration: As i may quote george on this one: "if you think you can't make it, quit the course"

We were able to hang out with the younger batch (though angel had to leave early because she has a class at 5pm) A little chit-chat, some stories and experiences shared. I said to myself "god, im getting older by the minute im speaking with these kids" A little tour of the school (god, i did missed the green trees of Dasmariñas) and the students, whom i can see myself not too long ago... time really flies fast...

Anyhow, Before we left, george took up this picture of at least 3 generations of Broadcast Journalism. One shot i will never forget... The past, Present, and Future!

Returning to the roots (Part1)

Just came home from a talk in my loving alma mater, De La Salle University-Dasmariñas. Finally, i feel relaxed with the lush green trees around me, far from the pollution of the metro, and a time to look back and recall the memories when i was still in college. I was invited to have a talk with the Broadcast Journalism students (Career Pathing seminar) and yes, i introduced them to the wonderful world of game development. im not in a mood to post the events on this part. I still need more pictures, which i'll be asking permission from my fellow speakers namely Ivy, Angel and George.

Meanwhile, i presented them this commercial that we did way back in college (well, the jonels brief commercial is something brutal. hehehe!) A group project in one of our subjects. They laughed and at the same time, amazed and i saw t in their eyes that they were entertained (most of the crowd are girls, i can't believe it! hehehehe)

So sorry for the late post, been busy for quite sometime, but here it is!

The Switchfoot Experience

You already take me there
So it has come to the day, the concert itself. i went to the office early so that i can be able to finish my stuff and leave early, why? so that i can leave early and watch the greatest concert (In my opinion) this year, Switchfoot. i have a friend whom i'll be seeing in the concert so we agreed that we'll meet at the Cuneta Astrodome. i left at around 5pm and so the travel to the venue begins

Oh! Gravity
While on the bus, i was stucked in traffic and so often thank god, buses do have television sets inside. I caught up bleach and meteor garden (you know what channel i was talking about) until i saw he ad for their new fantaserye "Zaido" all i can say is that, imagine the armor of "robocop" but less tougher than it looks. While in Meteor Garden i can't help but reminisce about college days (when they were still so popular amongst girls and every) anyhow, i can't describe the feeling that the band i admire the most and i love to hear is finally here in manila, and they'll be playing live (the last time i watched them was only on the Live in San Francisco DVD) and that made up my mind that im going to see them if they will perform here in the Philippines. Oh! Gravity is what i felt as i stepped down the doors of the bus and into the venue.

Circles
I went to eat dinner first before i verge on the long lines that turned into circles in front of the Cuneta Astrodome. Show starts at 7:30 pm and i arrived at around 6:30pm. perfect, i'll eat dinner first. The crowd was mainly composed of young and yuppie girls and guys but the best part of it is that the crowd looks somewhat peaceful (as opposed to "some" concerts wherein you will be pissed off because of the so-called "bastard" gatecrashers and concert goers) I was also hoping to get merchandise once i get in

Dare you to move
I was in line at around 6:50pm. the long line hasn't moved at all, and it's nearing the said time. Good thing the started to let people in at around 7pm. but wait, the show starts at 7:30? well, as long switchfoot hasn't started playing, it's fine with me. Finally at around 7:10, the line started moving.

Stars
And so we are on the special ringside area of the venue. The place was cold, full of lights and screaming fans in the moshpit area. i saw some notable personalities, Stars as they would say, Monty Macalino of Mayonnaise and the members of Hale was in the moshpit area, as i told myself that they also are big fans of the band (FYI: switchfoot is one of the influences listed by the band HALE, in which case i can hear on some of the arrangements of their songs) along with some of the DJ's from Magic and the MYX crew.

Adding to the noise
The show stared at around 8:30pm, it was opened up bay band namd Salamin, they rocked the place. Fans were screaming and they are having a good time. A sign that this will be a very noisy and rockin' night.

Edge of my seat
And so it has come, the lights were dimmed, the crowd was screaming and 5 tall guys walked up the stage. Switchfoot was ready to rock manila! alright, even the people sitting in the ringside, lower box and bleachers were standing and on the edge of their seats as the show started. the guys started playing Oh! Gravity, from their new album with the same title. They followed it up with Stars which happens to be one of my favorite songs from them. Manila was really singing with them.

Highlights from the show:

The 2 minute freeze time on American dreams (that was sooo cool!)
Learning to breathe (i was shocked upon hearing this. On of the most memorable song for me was played live, though some of the crowd don't know the song, i was singing to myself each and every lyric of it. sweet!)
The Balut-eating portion after the members of the band were introduced onstage. Jerome fonatmillas was so clever, he only got the penoy, something less-grosser than the blaut. It was a first for a foreign rock band to eat balut onstage! hehehe
2 crazy fans got up onstage running so the bouncers were out to get them. i thought after their first run onstage it was over. but no, the even came back! cool!
The encore part. Everyone was singing "Only Hope" probably because A walk to remember was one of those hit movies here in the Philippines. No offense to Mandy Moore fans (*ahem heheh) but the full band version was better. ^_^

We are one tonight
The show ended at 10:30 pm, it was a rockin' exeprience, something that will be kept in my mind for a long time (Next to the Incubus concert in manila woohoo!) The crowd was great, everyone was singing and definitely, we were one tonight! Unfortunately, no pics but audios and video of them eating balut is up on my accoutn. do visit it and see it!

Short notices (Pre-Switchfoot Concert and other stuff)

In about 24 hours, i will be experiencing switchfoot (yeehaa!) will do a longer post about it....

Hope they perform their friggin' take on the song "crazy in love" by beyonce knowles... that would be funny and awesome!

Meanwhile, i started playing Bioshock and it really lived up to it's expectations. Half-life 2: episode 2 has some serious competition (also, gears of war will be coming to the pc so better save up on that one for a hardware upgrade)

I want a friggin Mr. Bubbles/Big Daddy Figurine. I have my friend here who has the special edition of this game and he has this awesome replica of the badass guy in the game. Im drooling to get one. anyone of you out there whose interested in selling, tell me. ^_^

In music news....

My attention was caught by this band named "Angels and Airwaves" Tom Delonge's new band after he left Blink 182. Their style would remind me of U2 in their early days. Mixed reactions were present on both his new band and Mark Hoppus' new band +44. Notable songs on AVA (this is their nickname in the music industry and no, not the other AVA that some of you might be thinking.) include Valkyrie Profile, Do it to me now and The Adventure. God i do hope that Blink 182 reunites again... miss their music

Also, Blindspott (some of you may have heard them the so-called Linkin park of New Zealand) recently disbanded. aww.. i bought their debut album about 5 years ago and after that, no news about them (well until now, they released a new album last year and the disbanding news thing.)

Howell, back to playing bioshock....

I will be experiencing music from one of my all-time favorite bands and probably one of the most anticipated concert of the year here in the philippines (A long time ago, Incubus was the thing!)

Yes! Switchfoot is coming to town. This will be another great experience.

Tickets are selling like hotcakes (the moshpit and lower seats are already sold-out in most ticket outlets.) for those who will be watching, see yah round the venue!

The WKAFTL Experience - The night i set my foot onstage again

August 23, 2007 - The day when for one night, i went onstage again with a bunch of multi-talented people... this was the night i experienced to be a We Kick Ass For The Lord (WKATFL) member just for one night. Teeheehee!

A little backstory on how i got into this scenario: Luna, my boss at work used to be in a band called WKAFTL and i have heard some songs of them through the internet (and mp3) This band is composed of multi-talented people including Luna, Owel (of up and coming band named "Ang Bandang Shirley") Aids, formerly from "The Purplechickens" band and Joon from "Outerhope" and "Musings of a Cigarette-Smoking Man" Overall, the are a talented group. Until they went on-hiatus...

Fast forward to the said date above. Prior to August 23, i was invited by luna to play for them in WKAFTL. The reason, Joon is leaving the country and they wanted to throw in a surprise party for him. I agreed and then a practice was set. Felt nervous (Just like when i was in my other band in Letran named "Lounge") because:

1. Haven't been into a band onstage with different people (BBBKB was only a company-party, LFS was way back in college wherein me, xtian and athan played for a school project, then eventually, me and xtian continued making music. heck, we even attempted to work on this video) not just ordinary people, but rockstars...

2. Haven't been in a band with members from other bands (This is where starstruck came in. Imagine, a guitarist and vocalist from 2 professional bands and an award-winning director, talk about stars! hehehe)

3. Boldstar will be there (the now-defunct band of Marie, Echo, Jazz and Justin will be playing for one-night-only for joon. now that i gotta see! Boom Desire!)

On to my post. The day came in, and i said to luna, i can't feel my legs (well, somewhat yeah, but the show must go on.) we left the office at around 5pm as our set would be on 9:30pm, 2nd band performer. We were about to practice right before the gig. unfortunately, we were 1 member short cause aids was stuck in traffic. So Luna, Owel and Me went on to practice. It didn't sounded that good (now were dead... dead i tell you! heheh) afterwards, owel left us and he said that he will be at Route 196 in katipunan (The venue of the event) before we left the studio, aids came in and ate dinner (while i was eating Brownie ala-mode! yummy! hehehe)

At round 9pm, we came in the venue and went straight to the band room. Helen band was doing a soundcheck and i must tell you, their drummer mikah, is one talented drummer. Afterwards, Joon came in and he has no idea on what's going to happen that night.

*the thing is, Joon will be playing at least a song or two with the bands he was in before*

And so the show started, Helen came in first. Then us. holy crap... this is it....

We played 4 songs (well, as for me being their drummer) as for the remaining two songs were given to Joon. The setlist of WKAFTL were:

1. The new year - Originally done by "Death cab for cutie"

2. Reptilia - Originally done by "The Strokes"

3. Heart of Glass - Originally done by "Blondie"

4. So here we are - Originally done by "Bloc Party" one of my fave songs

Then, joon came in to play the following:

and to wrap it up:

6. Stars are blind - Originally done by "Paris Hilton" Luna's best performance. hehehe!

And so after that, Ang Bandang Shirley (The band where owel sings in) followed. I must admit, this is one up-and-coming band to watch out. They even joins the pulp WBOB this year. Definitely a band to watch out. (Rockstar owel! woohoo!)

After that, Boldstar came in and played their set. I said "Holy shit! could this be real? they're back for one night only, and im blessed to have been in the event. deymn!" after the event, the manox went on to play. Too bad we have to leave early because we still have work the next day (Im going to alabang, Luna's going to bataan, Aids is also going to work and Owel has a class at 7am the next day) so we left Route 196 at around 12:30 am... but not this specific line that luna said to Jazz Nicolas (of boldstar and itchyworms):

and i quote luna...

Luna (to Jazz of Boldstar): “Hi Jazz, you don’t know me, I’m Luna, this is Popo, he’s a huge fan of Boldstar.”
Jazz: “Nice to meet you!”

And so that was it... a night full of fun, rockin' tunes and memorable things... To joon (whom i learned was already in hongkong as of this blogging) Good luck and thanks!

and so this blogpost ends... i do hope and pray to jam with WKAFTL members again... they are really rockin' buddies! as i will quote owel on every end of songs during practice "Good work WKAFTL!" heheh

The day "Pauline" came into my life...

Finally, the day came for my purchase as a gift to myself. The "Les Paul"
(refer to my last post for more info on this one) finally came in my hands. With thorough research and comparisons from other music stores, i settled in on this one. It may not be a Gibson brand but hell yeah, when you hear it, a cheap-o version (you may call it rip-off but it's not the guitar brand that matters, it's the person using it...)

Actually, i considered a strat for my guitar, but upon seeing this LP (Les Paul) cheaper (and on sale) i went on a final consultation before buying the guitar. thanks to my officemates Luna, Renz and JV (Ibanez boy! hehehe) for the inputs and after reading reviews of it, i bought it. And that's how "Pauline" came into my life (i named it a SHE instead of a HE because well, you know the drill)

Probably my next target would be it's amps (right now, im using my PC as an amplifier which i
do not recommend...) and the stompboxes (i'll get the freakin' delay) Also, with an electric guitar, i can continue recording riffs, sample chords and probably songs (Once a musician, always a musician)

The elite Gibson Les Paul... i want this one... im in a mood to burn my money for this freakin' guitar. Not only does it look good, it also sounds good. Might as well get one as a birthday present for myself this year... Oh god, i want one...

I was browsing through the pages of Philmusic Forums. There are so many guitars being sold there but alas, no luck for a Les Paul model. I saw one offer there, colored white but unfortunately, still don't have enough money to buy it on the spot. Aso, it was traded earlier as the owner posted on his offer... Howell, patience is a virtue... Will wait till the end of the month and try to buy at least one of this...

Why is the Les Paul so expensive and famous? here's a list of some notable personalities using this guitar. Also, this model has the *Gwapo look as my officemate says it. I'll try to buy if my money allows me to buy one. for the meantime, i will just be staring at my computer wallpaper...
